| Experience: | I graduated summa cum laude in May 2008 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Psychology. I also have a strong math background with 3 years of college calculus (through multivariable/vector calc) and 2 years of statistics. Thanks to the liberal arts philosophy at my alma mater, my professors emphasized writing across the curriculum, and I published an essay in our college journal my senior year. I also wrote an honors thesis in biology, which led to a scientific poster that won first place at the district and national level. While in college, I tutored students in general biology and genetics, and ran review sessions with my friends when we were in organic chemistry. I have excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain a topic in different ways until the student fully grasps the material. I also have mild ADHD, so I know and share the many tips and tricks I figured out in college to help stay focused and organized. The main reason I want to tutor is to share the strategies that helped me be as successful as I was in college. There is no one right way to study, and it takes time, effort, and practice to figure out the best way for each individual to learn. I scored 1590 on my SAT and 1400 on my GRE. |
| Hobbies: | I was on the varsity sailing team for all 4 years of college, and I am an avid horseback rider as well. I also love to read and do crossword puzzles. I enjoy being outdoors, and I have a dog, who ensures that I get outside even in inclement weather! |
